An inspiring, artistic space for both work and play with frequents hostings of art exhibitions and live music events.
Radisson RED Hotel – V&A Waterfront Cape Town
With a focus on art, fashion and music, the Radisson RED is a stylish urban boutique hotel that sits in the gentrified Silo district. Its distinctive edgy design and monochromatic art murals create an energetic place for creatives, work gatherings, a city break or just a cool, social sundowner. The hotel also features a playful industrial-chic rooftop bar and terrace with a killer view of skyline and sea.
Location
It sits adjacent to the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa in the commercial Silo district of the V&A Waterfront. It’s only a short stroll to the harbour with various shopping districts, restaurants and bars. It’s 5-minutes journey by car to the central business district and Cape Town International Convention Centre, with convenient access to the airport. Underground parking is available subject to a fee.
How do you get to the Radisson RED Cape Town?
Take a 20-minute journey by taxi from Cape Town International Airport which should cost about R250 (£13) at the current rate.
Style
The versatile open-plan layout is dimly lit with a mashup of different seating and lounge areas to suit various moods. The honey-combed magazine racks and table-tennis boards are as functional as they are part and parcel of the decor. There’s nearly always a constant buzz of people coming and going, and guests up and down in the lifts with welcome spritz in hand.
At the pinnacle of this 7-storey tower is the Red Roof Bar with a makeshift appeal and the omnipresent jewel-like Silo Hotel towering even higher as the backdrop: red upcycled bottle crates for planters and beer on tap from a flashy red truck by the pool. With the zig-zag tiled terrace floors, the view from above resembles a miniaturized set from a Lego movie.
Facilities & services
Venture down from your guest room for a quiet pick-me-up drink in the bar lounge. It’s adjacent to an open floor where you get to watch weekly salsa lessons from afar. Wonder through the magazine racks or hit a few ping-pong balls for kicks in the lounge area. Otherwise, chill out up on the Red Roof with drinks or a dip in the pool. The Bar regularly features red hot Cape Town DJ’s and you can get a glimpse of featured art exhibitions and live music often hosted in the social areas of the hotel.
Four events and game studios are equipped with up-to-date technology for comfortably hosting meetings or gatherings of up to 140 people. The studios have a retractable screen, ceiling projector and wipe-off walls for brainstorming. The hotel staff will be hands-on to ensure everything goes smoothly. High-speed WiFi is available throughout the property and you can consult the virtual concierge on the mobile RED App.

The Morning Fuel breakfast menu offers a variety like organic yoghurt and fruit jars, steamy porridge pots and smashed avo on rye bread along with a charcuterie and cheese platter option. They have a few offbeat sweet treats like the frozen cheesecake lollies and signature ice-cream, as well as a special menu for your pet pooch or furry feline.
The versatile drinks selection features trendy local craft labels, a selection of green wines and Moët & Chandon at the top-end of the scale. For cheerful sundowners and snacks, the Red Roof Bar serves crunchy salads, fresh-baked pizzas, burgers and chilli poppers from the poolside truck with a choice of local brews.
